Foggy early but decent sightings

Tuesday 24 September 2013
Good day around the cress beds until a wasp seemed to think I was too close to its nest - ouch! - right on the chin. Still just about worth it for views of Kingfisher, Heron, Stoat, Southern Hawker and Common Darter dragonflies and a Water Rail which proved to be a right little poser.

Nocturnal visitors to garden

 Friday 13 September 2013

Surprise visit by 2 hedgehogs in the garden last night - I was alerted to the presence by poo on the grass yesterday but still surprised to see 2 on the infra red camera. Also watch for the jumping mouse!

Bonus butterflies

Thursday 5 September 2013

What was most likely a "final gasp" of the summer, looking at the forecast, my butterfly transect revealed three new species for the year. Clouded Yellow, Painted Lady and a Small Copper - unfortunately none of which settled within camera range.

Badger evidence at The Watercress reserve

Wednesday 4 September 2013

It's not that I am vindictive but I was pleased to see that the wasps that attacked and stung me whilst I was cutting the meadow at Ewelme received their come uppance last night! A badger decided to excavate the nest.

Year tick for Ewelme Watercress beds.

Tuesday 3 September 2013

Not very exciting but beggars can't be choosers and a new tick for the site is a new tick. Yellow Wagtail - definitely 2 and probably 3 flying around the beds.
